IN THE NEWS - So we've seen Kim Beazley lose out against Simon Crean in his attempt to oust him from the leadership of the Labor Party, losing 58 to 34 votes. That's not that much if you think about it. That means almost a third of those that voted don't want Crean as leader. I reckon he's shit anyway, he does the job but he doesn't have any personality. Its like watching a cardboard cut out.

Meanwhile John Howard has proposed constitutional changes that reduce the power of the Senate to make critical decisions, increasing the power of his government to make changes that cannot be blocked. In the end there is such strong opposition to this idea that it seems it won't go ahead. Of course John Howard would rather the senate didn't exist at all, then he could make any fucking changes he wants.

The ABC is under fire by some members of parliament who want to cut its funding because of some reporting particularly during the recent Iraq war deemed "left-wing". John Howard also attacked the ABC for its "left-wing bias" during the refugee crisis. Maybe he should sanction raids on ABC reporters houses to make sure they aren't hiding weapons of mass destruction themselves.

Speaking of Weapons Of Mass Destruction, Andrew Wilkie, a former defence analyst, has travelled to Britain to give evidence in a parliamentary inquiry into the alleged doctoring of information on Iraq. Mr Wilkie said he would expose the Government's "exaggeration" of intelligence on weapons of mass destruction and "concoction" of links between Saddam Hussein and terrorists. Should be interesting, if they let us hear anything about it here. John Howard has ruled out any Australian parliamentary inquiry, saying there had been no doctoring of evidence by "the Government I lead".
