MARIJUANA WAS MADE ILLEGAL in the 30's in America (the rest of the Western world following soon after) mostly thanks to one man, Harry J. Anslinger, the Chief of the Federal Bereau of Narcotics. Below are some chosen quotes from Mr Anslinger, from press statements or statements to congress that helped make it illegal in the first place.
